House. C17 (said to be 1605 on deed) with possibly earlier fabric at N. end, timber framed, refronted and cased in brick in early C18. Chequer brick with red brick dressings to front. Old tile roof with large chimney to RH of centre with 6 octagonal shafts. Bracketted wood cornice. 2-storeys. 7 bay front with carriage arch to RH with 2-light casement over. Other windows early C18 sashes with thick glazing bars, segmental arched heads. 6 panel door, top panels glazed, in 3rd bay from RH with architrave, bold cut brackets and flat hood. Timber frame exposed in RH flank wall under carriageway. Rear wall of flint and brick with two 3-light 1st floor casements with leaded glazing. Timber framing of former N crosswing, which has chimney with 4 octagonal shafts. Interior Heavy timbers of central truss of N. crosswing has jowled posts, cambered tiebeam and queenposts in attic. Chamfered C17 spinebeams, several C17 panelled doors and decorated cupboard door in 1st floor N. room. C18 brick fireplace arch in ground floor S. room, C18 decorated corner cupboard in ground floor central room. RCHM I p. 310 ON.36.
