Road bridge over River Torridge. C16-C17 partly reconstructed in C19. Rubble piers and three arches. The spans and springing heights being different in each case. Segmental arch on west side, more four-centred on east side, with stones above built in an unusual radial fashion triangular cutwaters. On the west side the bridge has been widened by shallow segmental arches springing from cutwaters. Line of voussoirs carried up to parapet level, the cope being left in rough castellations (repairs in 1879). Rough rubble parapets. Iron plates that secure tie rods dated 1911.

According to “History of Great Torrington” p154, Alexander and Hooper, said to be C13, and with reference in 1311. Leland records three arched bridge in this position. In C15 two legacies were made for the repair of the bridge.

Taddiport Bridge and The Toll House form a group.

The asset was previously listed twice also at List entry 1326585. That entry was removed from the List on 10 February 2016.

This entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 10 February 2016.
