Cottage. Mid to late C17 with C19 and C20 additions and alterations. Plastered cob
and rubble walls. Thatch roof gabled to right end half-hipped to left. Projecting
rendered rubble stack with brick shaft at right gable end and C20 brick shaft at
left end.
Plan: originally 1 heated room to the right, possibly with a rear outshut, and
integral barn to the left with purely external access. C18 outbuilding or service
wing behind barn end. Outshut behind right-hand end heightened in C20 and barn
converted to domestic accommodation in late C20.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front of 2 late C20 small-paned
casements to converted barn end to left of which the 1st floor windows are half
dormers and with large 4-light window occupying former cart entrance. Late C20
thatched porch to right of centre. 2 and 3-light casements to right are earlier
C20. Rear elevation has single storey wing to right and 2-storey lean-to to left.
Interior: right-hand room has open fireplace with roughly chamfered wooden lintel
and cloam oven. Rear doorway has C17 chamfered wooden frame with ogee stops. Roof
timbers partly replaced over barn ends but otherwise rough straight principals with
lapped collars.
