GV II

Farmhouse. Late-C17 or early C18. Cob and stone mix, rendered, under gable-ended slate roof. Formerly a 3-room, cross-passage plan. Left-end external end stack (to original parlour); external rear lateral stack to Hall with stair-turret lit by small window adjacent; former end (now axial) stack to lower end. Right-hand end stack; all stacks with brick shafts. 2 storeys throughout. Front: symmetrical 5 window range; all 3-light, barred casement windows above; lean to porch to left; main entrance under moulded canopy on plain timber supports, the door C19 panelled and C20. 3 light windows to ground floor. Interior: left-hand room with very large fireplace, dressed trap jambs, chamfered, with unchamfered timber lintel; small inglenook window; pointed arch to side area; blocked smoking chamber to the right. Some cross beams, C18. C18 rear door, horizontal planking internally, vertical externally, the lintel and jambs with scratch moulding. Roof: 7 bays, principals crossed, morticed and side-pegged at apex, with side beams, C17 or C18, with later roof over the whole.
