Pair of semi-detached villas and attached coach house (to right), now 3 dwellings. c1830. Stucco over brick with slate roofs, that to centre and left are hipped, hipped and gable at right with central stucco stack and iron verandah. PLAN: double depth with full height bows and service wings to rear, that to right has further single-storey infill adjoining coach house. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 9 first-floor windows, the centre 5 break forward and the central window is a dummy. First floor has 6/6 sashes. Ground floor has plate-glass French windows to left and 8-pane French windows with divided overlights and margin-lights to right, with tripartite windows to ends, that to left has 1/1 sashes, that to right has 6/6 between 2/2 sashes. All openings in plain reveals and with sills; Venetian blind boxes and blinds remain to first floor. Entrances either side of breakforward: 4-panel doors with overlights and margin-lights. Crowning cornice. Rear bow has tripartite 6/6 between 2/2 sashes where original. Coach house retains arched opening with double carriage doors and central round-arched opening to upper stage with casement window, 3/3 sash. INTERIOR: house to right (No.60) retains most of its original features including 6-fielded-panel doors in fluted architraves with flowers to corners; open-well staircase has stick balusters with wreathed handrail and brass stir treads to lower stairs; 2 marble fireplaces to ground floor; panelled shutters. The interior is remarkable in that the pitch pine woodwork appears never to have been painted. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: ground-floor verandah has lozenge and scrolls to uprights and arched frieze.
