Acland Memorial Cross 240 metres north west of Killerton House
II
Cross. 1873. Granite. Erected in memory of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland on a prominent
site overlooking Culm Valley. Subscribers, their names inscribed on plinth, include
most of the Devon social and political figures of importance at the time. A variant
of the Celtic cross type. 3 steps, octagonal, support a tapering square plinth
which bears the inscription. Rectangular shaft with vine and abstract decoration
and beaded corners, with Celtic cross head.
