2 cottages. Early to mid C17 with later alterations. Cob, plastered, under tumerised slate roof, gabled-end to right, and adjoining nos. 11 and 12 (q.v.) to left. Probably a much altered 3-room, cross-passage planned single dwelling, the higher end to the right of the passage; a stone axial stack backs on to passage with thatch weathering and added brick shaft; large front external stack and newel stair turret (with small window) to former parlour. Later stairs (to the rear of former hall, now cottage no. 10) lit by tiny window at eaves level. The house appears to have been built in two storeys, but the roof has been considerably altered. Front: scattered fenestration; 4 upper windows; those to either side of lateral stack, both of 2 lights, and retaining old, possibly C17 frames, those to left C20 plastic. Left-hand door (to former passage) wide and deeply recessed; three 3-light windows to ground floor, 8 panes to each light. [Interiors:] No. 10: Chamfered lintel over entrance from former passage into hall; hall with 3 axial beams, chamfered, 2 with step hollow stops. Much repaired upper cruck to hall and an inserted hip dividing present cottages (roof spaced sealed). No. 9: main room with 2 cross beams with ovolo mouldings. Roof : 2 principals, morticed and crossed at apex.
