Details
FENITON SY 19 NW 7/59 Case chest tomb approximately 2.5 - metres south of aisle of the Church of St Andrew GV II
Chest tomb. Dated 1773 in memory of William Case. Hamstone ashlar. Chest tomb is rectangular in plan. The lid has a low-pitched ridge on top and moulded edges. The long sides contain single fielded panels flanked by pilasters carved with flowers and foliage. Any plinth is buried. The panel on the north side is inscribed, the first word in Gothic lettering and the rest in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. It records the death of William Case in 1773.
