Details
TALATON TALATON SY 09 NE 6/184 Pair of Webb headstones - approximately 4 metres east of the Chancel of the Church of St James GV II
Pair of adjacent headstones. The left one is dated 1843 in memory of Aaron Webb, the right one dated 1838 in memory of his wife Sarah Webb and presumably their daughter Caroline Gullwell. They are very similar, both slate upright slabs with shaped heads. On the front each has an urn flanked by scrolls carved into the head and an inscription which begins in Gothic lettering and continues with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. Both Aaron and Sarah are described as servants of Sir John Kennaway.
