Details
FORE STREET 1. 1633 (West Side) Premises occupied by "Trumps Stores" SY 1287 1/249 II GV 2. Mid C19 refronting of slightly earlier building. 3 storeys stucco faced with rusticated quoins. Low pitch hipped slate roof with paired brackets to wide eaves. 4 windows to upper-floors, recessed broad framed sashes, no glazing bars, in stucco surrounds, shouldered on 2nd floor with key- stones. The 1st floor windows have cornices on foliate brackets. Cast iron flower guards. Block sills on consoles. Ground floor has original shop front: 4 camber headed windows each flanked by pilasters with panels separating them. Panelled risers and sloping glass panel below each window with gold ornamental lettering. Central entrance with showcases splayed in to recessed door. This is glazed and divided into 4 panes with oval centre pane, 2 panels at bottom. To the left of shop front is a side door of 3 tall vertical panels and lower rectangular one, rectangular fanlight. A projecting moulded cornice runs over the whole front, broken by ornamental brackets with dentil caps. The interior retains some of the original shop fittings. Mahogany shelves withminiature turned balus- trades and cartouche centre pieces. Heavy Ionic iron columns support ceiling.
The Premises occupied by "French's", "Fields"(Mans Shop), "Boots" and "Trump Stores" form a group.
