Details
CLIFTON PLACE 1. 1633 The Beacon SY 1287 1/48 12.10.51. II GV 2. Structurally slightly ater than the other houses in Clifton Place. Detached stucco faced house circa 1840 showing Swiss Chalet influence. Full width gables with very deep verge soffits and deep wavy bargeboards. Thatched roof. Chimneys have projecting crenellated coping. The house is set at angle to the cliff and road. The south east front is 3 storeys with 2 windows, pointed heads with diamond glazing to casements. Verandah and 1st floor balcony with iron balustrades, the supports carried up to gable. The south west front to sea has a possibly altered system of fenestration: on the 1st floor is a canted rectangular stucco bay with tent roof and the ground floor is also built out with bowed centre and tent roof. Tran- somed casements with diamond glazing, pointed heads to those on 1st floor bay. Entrance on North east side.
