GV II

Almshouses. Founded 1636 by Nicholas Bedingfield, rebuilt 1850, converted 1975-77 for 3 occupations. Red brick with blue brick diapering. Roof of fish-scale tiles. One storey. 5-window range. Facade with 3 projecting gables, the outer ones with straight parapets on kneelers, the centre one with shaped gable on kneelers. Gables each with one 3-light stone mullioned window under stilted head. Separating gables is a 2-light mullioned window and one vertically-panelled door. Further entrance on left end. Over gable windows are stone inscriptions scrolls: Rebuilt...Anno Domini...MDCCCL. Gabled roof. 2 transverse ridge stacks with twin decorated circular flues. INTERIOR: not inspected.
