House, now shop and store. Mid C17 core; early C19 front; a large late C20 extension facing Langton Place. Timber-framed interior, white brick front; slate roof with paired mutule cornice to front slope, C20 concrete Roman tiles to rear slopes. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar; framing in 2 ranges parallel to the street. 3 window range, arranged 1:1:1 with the 2 outer windows 12-pane sashes and the centre window wider, with additional narrow side-lights, all in plain reveals with flat gauged arches. A 6-panel door on the left has a fanlight with ornamental glazing bars and is recessed within a doubled brick arch. On the south side 2 stone steps, with rounded ends to the treads and wrought-iron handrails, lead to the former garden door, now used as the shop entrance. This has 2 leaves with horizontal glazing bars and a wooden blind box above. INTERIOR: brick lined cellar. The entrance door on left leads into a narrow passage with a fine mid-C17 open well stair at the end. This has dumb-bell balusters and newels, ball finials and moulded handrails and rises the full height of the house. The principal upper room is panelled throughout with C18 raised fielded panels and a dentil cornice. The fireplace has a moulded and eared surround in white figured marble, enclosed by fluted wood pilasters supporting a triglyph frieze. A similar marble surround to the ground storey fireplace is moulded but not eared. Clasped purlin roof to the rear range in 5 bays with only the purlins and collars exposed.
