NY 35 SE BEAUMONT ORTON ROAD (North Side) Carlisle 8/28 Dovecote north of Bunkershill

22/12/76 II

Former Dovecote. Late C18 or early C19. Mixed river cobbles and red sandstone rubble, graduated Welsh slate roof and glover. 2 storeys, circular plan. Plank doors on ground floor and loft to rear. Roof re-slated in early 1970s, glover with louvred wooden slats. Interior retains its original brick boulins for approximately 500 nests.
