CLAIFE COLTHOUSE SD 39 NE Town End Dairy 6/28 Farmhouse and 25.3.70 outbuilding GV II
Farmhouse. Probably C18. Roughcast stone with slate roof. T-plan, 2 storeys. North wing of 3 bays has lean-to outhouse to end. West facade has dripcourse. Windows are sashed with glazing bars, that to ground floor has paired sashes, those to lst floor have vertical glazing bars only. Entrance has 6-panel door. Gable-end stack. East facade has casement windows and stair window. Adjacent entrance has wide-boarded door in lean-to porch. Outhouse has 3-light unglazed wooden-mullioned window to north. West wing has 2-bay north facade and 3-bay south facade. 2-bay outbuilding to west. North facade has small-paned casement in angle; and windows with tripartite sashes with glazing bars to 2nd bay. 2 entrances to outbuilding, which has cow house partitions to west end. Gable-end entrance and 2 dripcourses. South facade has sashed windows, paired to 1st bay of 1st floor, others tripartite; end bay higher, with gable-end stacks. Cross-axial stack to end of house part; barn entrance and low blocked openings with timber lintels to left. Interior has stair with turned balusters and square newels. Small cupboard with door.
