2/175 Steppes Hill Farmhouse II
Farmhouse. Early C17 and earlier with C18 additions, restored in C20. Timber-framed, ground floor pebble-dashed, first floor with applied studding, right gable end tile-hung. Lobby entry plan of 3 timber-framed bays and stack bay. Rear stair turret. 2 storeys on brick plinth with continuous jetty which continues round left gable end. Applied close-studding with arch braces. Roof hipped to left, half-hipped to right. Multiple stack in front slope of roof off-centre to left, and projecting brick stack to right. Panelled door beneath stack with simple canopy over. Timber-framed stair turret behind stack, clad in brick. Rear wing to left: C17 or earlier core. Timber-framed with plain tile roof, brick-cladd in C18 with plat band. Roof half-hipped to junction with front range. Much lower C18 extension to wing, timber-framed and clad in brick. Large c20 rear extention to left. Interior: front range has clasped purlin roof with reducing principal rafters, altered at both ends. Left end bay of front range incorporates fragment of cross- wing of earlier building. Rear wing has ovolo-moulded mullion window with secondary diamond mullions. Exposed beams and posts. Marked on O.S. map as Hill Farm.
