Details

BENENDEN TQ83SW STANDEN STREET 1350-0/3/101 Nos.3 AND 4 28/03/88 (Formerly Listed as: STANDEN STREET Nos.3 AND 4 Standen Farm Cottages) II House pair. Early C18 with outshut probably added in early C19 and with some internal alterations of same date. Weatherboarded on brick base. Hipped peg tiled roof with central brick chimneystacks. 2 storeys, 5 windows. Casement windows, the 2 penultimate ones 3-light, the others 2-light, with many original leaded lights. 2 early C19 plank door. Early C19 outshut to rear has casement windows. Interior has 2 open fireplaces with remains of bread oven. Chamfered axial beams with run out stops. No 4 has an early C18 wooden staircase with square newel posts and stick balusters. 1st floor has jowled posts with rounded profile and diagonal tension braces. Plank door. Wide oak floor beams. Roof has pegged rafters with ridgepiece.
