TL 51 SE ABBESS, BERNERS AND ABBESS RODING VILLAGE BEAUCHAMP RODING 2/10 Barn to SW of Abbess Roding Hall GV II
Barn. c.1600 timber framed barn of 7 bays with 2 gabled midstreys on brackets on N side. Main roof is gabled and of corrugated iron. N elevation of tarred black weatherboarding and E. 3 bays of S elevation have brick nogging infill (not original). Other 4 bays of S side have top half plaster and bottom half tarred block boarding. Aisle-like lean-to; on N side and gabled lower block at right angles from the NW corner, all in black weatherboarding with corrugated iron roofs and clay pantiles over extension block. Posts are jowled with arched braces and roof has queen posts, diminished primary rafters and evidence of former side purlins and windbracing. Halved and bladed scarfs in top plates. Moated site.
