WEST STOCKWELL STREET (east side)
Church of St Martin

(Formerly listed as Former Church of St Martin)

II*
Early C12 origin to nave and west tower added later in the century. Rest of the building largely C14 and C15 with considerable C19 restoration. Much Roman brick was used in the building. The upper part of the tower fell into ruins in the C17 (probably after the siege in 1648). An unusual feature is the C14 roof truss forming an open screen in the chancel. No longer in ecclesiatical use at time of survey (1971) and reopened in 2022 by the Greek Orthodox Church
