Farmhouse c.15th century, timber framed and plastered with brick end walls, Peg tiled, gabled roof, of 4 bays with two late 16th century bays at east with lower ridge line of two storeys, 19th century range to north. Two west bays have first floor hall with soulaces on each rafter couple, near central cross quadrant crown post roof with curved braces to tie beam. Crown post roof in other two bays. Lower two bays to east with collar purlin roof, posts with long jowls. Moated site with infilled ponds. Recorded by Morant in History of Essex in Victoria County History of Essex and in Manorial records of 15th C. as Epping Manor House, until 17th century. A grange of Waltham Abbey from 11th century until taken by the Crown in 16th century.
