BARTON NY 42 SE 7/97 Roehead and attached outbuildings 6.2.68

- II House and outbuildings. C17 with later alterations. Stone rubble, part roughcast. East elevation of 2 storeys and 7 bays, 1st 4 bays roughcast, 5th, 6th, 7th bays canted back, former outbuildings. 1st bay of ground floor has 2-light single-chamfered-mullioned window; 3rd bay has single-chamfered tripartite window; 5th and 6th bays have inserted C20 windows, plaster surrounds and small-paned glazing. 1st floor has windows with chamfered reveals to 1st 4 bays, those to 1st 3 bays possibly originally of 2 lights, those to 1st 2 bays with horizontally sliding sashes; 5th, 6th and 7th bays have C20 windows. Entrance to 5th bay in projection continuing line of 1st 4 bays under dripstone chamfered with Tudor head under label and plank door. Entrance to 7th bay has stone surround rebated for original stable door, now with glazed door. 2 cross-axial stacks. Outbuilding to south has wide segmental-arched central entrance and entrances to either end. 1st floor C20 inserted window next to house. Outbuilding to north end has barn entrance. West elevation has C20 windows. Gabled wing with lean-to outshut to north, stair bay under catslide roof to south.
