7/294 No. 34 (Rosemary Cottage) and no. 35
GV II
Pair of attached houses. Mid-C19 in Tudor Revival style. Red brick in Flemish and English bond, some plastered timber framing with exposed imitation framing, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. No. 34 comprises a main range of one storey and attics facing NW. No. 35 comprises a crosswing of 2 storeys to the right, projecting to the front. Axial stack at the junction. Joint service wing to rear. No. 34 has on the ground floor one casement of 8 lights and one of 12 lights, each in a chamfered plaster surround, and on the first floor 2 casements of 6 lights, each with two 2-centred heads in a gabled dormer; plain door with 4-centred head and chamfered plaster surround. No. 35 has on the ground floor a splayed bay of casements of 4-12-4 lights, and on the first floor an oriel of 3-3-3-3 lights with four 2-centred heads and a hipped roof; door in right return, similar to that of no. 34. All these windows and doors are original. Each house has a jetty with exposed joists of horizontal section and plain bressumer. Above the jetty, imitation framing with ogee and radial bracing in west Midlands style. Fretted bargeboards on both dormers and gable in fleur-de-lis design with carved finials and pendants; the finial on the main gable is reduced. Left return plastered. 6 elaborately moulded shafts, octagonal and round. 2 C19 casements in gabled dormers to rear, with plain bargeboards. This pair of houses has remained unaltered and to the original design.
