House, divided into 2 houses, and extended. C15, altered in C17 and later. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay hall range facing N, with late C16 inserted stack in left bay. 2-bay service crosswing to left, jettied to the front, and 2-bay parlour/solar crosswing to right, with underbuilt jetty. External stack to right, enclosed by later parallel crosswing. Wing to rear of this, extending to right, parallel with street, with internal stack. 2 storeys. The Homestead comprises the left crosswing and hall range. One splayed bay of C20 sashes below jetty, which has exposed joists and 2 plain brackets. one C20 casement on ground floor, 2 on first floor. Plain door with small pane. Original cusped bargeboards on gable of crosswing, and below, date 1609 painted on plaster. Grouped diagonal shafts on main stack. Hillside Cottage comprises the parlour/solar crosswing and extensions to right. 2-window range of early C20 sashes of 6 lights. C20 door in right return wall. Rear extension of painted brick, with hipped roof. Modern red clay tiles on right crosswing and rear wing. The hall has been raised or rebuilt to 2-storey height in the C17. RCHM 9.
