Wrongly shown on OS map as Chelmer Cottages. House. Late C16 and C18, altered in C20. Timber framed, roughcast rendered with some weatherboarding, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay early C18 range facing SE, with internal stack at rear, and C19 2-storey lean-to extension at rear. 3-bay late C16 ran to right, forming a T-plan, with C20 stack at the junction (replacing a C16/C17 stack in the same position). 2 storeys and attic. 3 C20 casements on ground floor, 4 on first floor, one in attic gable. Door at front of C20 lean-to porch. Original carved scrolled brackets to attic gable, and shaped sprockets below eaves. The carved bressumer, bargeboards, pendant and diagonal shafts described by the RCHM (23) are missing. In crosswing, close studding, original studded partition between middle and rear bays, blocked window of early glazed type in right wall with 2 ovolo mullions, and 2 similar blocked windows at front, each with one ovolo mullion. Butt-purlin roof in front bay, clasped purlin roof in remainder, blocked dormer to right. In C18 range, chamfered beam with lamb's tongue stops.
