GREAT HENNY TL 83 NE 5/82 Old Fenners (formerly listed 5.4.76 as "Lower End Cottages") GV II
Cottage. C16 or earlier. Timber framed and plastered with thatched roof, gabled at west and hipped down to lower single storey outhouse at east. One storey and attics with thatched lean-to on north side. 4 eyebrow dormers on south roof slope and small square and large 'L' plan stack behind ridgeline. Windows are C19 leaded light casements. Former small open hall house with in- line floored end at east end. Cambered tie beam with remains of simple collar/rafter roof and traces of large hall window. Early stack with moulded brick shelf over timber mantel beam. The 2 bays to the west are successively later extensions. Halved and bridled scarf joints in top plate of first phase. RCHM 8.
