TWINSTEAD TL 83 NE 5/111 Sparrows Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse. C16 or earlier. Timber framed and plastered with gabled peg tile roofs. Basically of 'T' shaped plan form and of one storey with attics with large crosswings at north end projecting forward to the west. There is a gabled 2 storey extension to the south end and C20 pantiled lean-to on southeast corner. The west elevation (front) has a gabled dormer in the main block which also has a tall ridgeline stack, C20 gabled porch and hipped peg tile roofed extension. The west wall of the crosswing has a segmental C20 bow window with some red brick and old reused crenellated girts. A large part of the timber frame is exposed on this front and the rear has old pargetted plaster of raised square panels. The rear has one lean-to dormer and windows are leaded light casements.
