GV II
House. C15, of at least 2 builds, altered in C16 and C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Left crosswing formerly jettied and gabled to street, now underbuilt and oversailed by roof of main range. C19 external stack at left, C19 internal stack at right. Rear extensions. 2 storeys. 3-window range of early C19 sashes of 16 lights. 6-panel door, the top 2 panels glazed, with simple canopy on brackets. Internally, high quality original frame with stop-chamfered beams and some original door and window openings. This property and nos. 83 and 85 (item 8/80, q.v.) adjoining were under joint ownership for much of their history, and have been roofed and sub-divided and re-combined without regard for the divisions of the original structure (Wherein I Dwell, Earls Colne WEA, 1983, 42-3). RCHM 5.
