Details
BURES HAMLET RAVENSFIELD LANE TL 83 SE (north side) 4/43 (27/167) Ravensfield Farmhouse 31.3.78 - II House. Early C17, extended in C18 and C19. Part timber framed and plastered, part painted brick in Flemish bond, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays facing W, with axial chimney stack in second bay from right end, forming a lobby-entrance, early C17. C18 timber-framed wing to rear of left end. Early C19 brick wing to front of left end. Mid-C19 single-storey brick wing to rear of right end. 2 storeys and attics. 2-window range of early C19 sashes of 16 lights, and in end of front wing, one more on ground floor, C20 equivalent on first floor. Some crown glass. 6-panel door in C19 gabled brick porch. 2 similar sashes with crown glass in right return wall, scattered fenestration in left return wall. Chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops above ground and first floors, joists plastered to the soffits. Clasped purlin roof with 3 collars to each full bay. Early C19 corner cupboard on ground floor. Most of the ground floor windows have double-hung vertically sliding shutters in working order, a rare feature. RCHM 10.
