GV II
House, early C14 and C16, extended in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2-bay service crossing (of an early C14 hall house, of which the remainder has been demolished), aligned NW - SE, with C18/19 external chimney stack on SW side. 2-bay extension to NW, C16, with axial chinmey stack at NW end, C17. Single-storey extension beyond, C19, and lean-to extension to SW. C20 extension to NE, forming a T-plan. Aspect SW. 2 storeys. C20 door, 3 C20 casement windows, 2 more on first floor. The interior of the C14 crosswing has heavy studs at 686mm centres in the side walls, 355mm centres in the upper SE wall, originally jettied, now underbuilt with brick. In the NE wall there is one half of a 2-centred doorhead. The posts are jowled. The central tiebeam is steeply cambered, with one arched brace present, the other removed. Each wallplate has a splayed and undersquinted scarf with face- key secured by 2 edge-pegs, The roof was originally of crownpost construction, altered to clasped purlin construction in the late C16. The floor and the lower side walls of the SE bay exhibit much alteration, apparently due to a fire. The C16 extension has jowled posts, plain-chamfered axial beams with joists of horizontal section. The NW end is of interrupted tiebeam construction, possibly for a timber-framed chimney originally, now covered by a C17 brick chimney stack. Each wallplate has an edge-halved and bridled scarf. In the upper NE wall there is an unglazed window with 3 diamond mullions, now inside the C20 extension. Clasped purlin roof.
