Details

LUNEDALE B6277, Laithkirk NY 92 SE 10/122 Lune Bridge GV II Road bridge over the River Lune. Late C18; upstream side widened c.1868 (when Lune Viaduct built). Sandstone ashlar; rebuilt parapets and snecked, rock- faced upstream side.

Downstream segmental arch, with flush voussoirs, flanked by battered buttresses; chamfered band above arch. Upstream segmental arch with projecting rock-faced voussoirs. Parapets with segmental copings. Attached end walls: flat-coped to north, about 9.0 metres long and curved on plan; south-east wall ends in a circular pier with domical cap, south-west wall ends in a rectangular pier.

Included for group value.

This bridge straddles the parishes of Holwick, Middleton and Lunedale.
