Details
GOUDHURST CRANBROOK ROAD TQ 7237-7337 (south side) 15/159 Black Swan Hall GV II House C16, altered and extended mid C16. Timber-framed and rendered, with plain tiled roof. Continuous jettied lobby entry plan in origin, with rear wing. Entry now in right return elevation, with 2 storey and garret bargeboarded gable to left, hipped roof to right and 3 wooden casement to each floor in moulded surrounds, with bracketed cills. Central panelled door in moulded surround. Left return (original entrance front) of 2 storeys as plinth with continuous jetty and roof hipped with gablet to left, with moulded stack cluster to centre left. Three wooden casements on 1st floor, and 5 on ground floor, all on bracketed cills, that to centre left in projecting press underbuilt to jetty. The house was once the Black Swan alehouse. The brewhouse and cider press surviving to the C20.
