Details

GOUDHURST HIGH STREET TQ 7237-7337 (north side) 15/185 Manor Cottage with 20.6.67 projecting wall and the Pharmacy GV II House pair and shop. C17 or earlier. Timber-framed and tile hung on red brick ground floor (with some mathematical tile) with plain tiled roof. Manor Cottage of 2 storeys, garret, and basement with slight jetty to 1st floor and with half- hipped roof and stacks to rear left and to right. Two 3-light wooden casement on each floor, and half-glazed door off centre to left. Basement opening to right. Projecting from left a red brick wall, buttressed, about 15 yards long and ranging in height from about 6 to 4 feet. The Pharmacy occupies the left return and rear wing of this corner block; due to the sloping ground it is of 3 storeys, with the garret to Manor Cottage. Projecting half-hipped roof to right, hipped roof to left, with central stack. Wooden casement to garret, 2 wooden casements on 2nd floor, 3 on 1st floor (those to the Pharmacy, left, with leaded lights). Project- ing late C19 shop window-bay to Pharmacy with half-glazed door and fascia board. Half-glazed door to right with multi-panel former shop window, turned round the corner.
