Details
GOUDHURST LADY OAK LANE TQ 73 SW (west side) 9/203 Lady Oak II House. C16 and altered early C18. Timber-framed and part exposed with red brick infill, part clad and extended with red and blue brick. Plain tiled roof. Two cell lobby entry plan. Two storeys and garret on plinth with exposed small panel frame to left with half hipped roof and central moulded stack cluster. Two 3 light and central 2 light leaded wooden casements on 1st floor, and 3 light windows in projection surrounds on ground floor. Central door of 6 panels, the top 2 glazed in projecting cornices surround. Mullioned garret window. Mid C20 extension to rear, weatherboarded, otherwise catslide outshot to main range. Interior: large fireplace with massive sandstone blocks; left hand room with tongue-stop chamfered main beam. A house is recorded here by the Shrine of Our Lady by the Oak (St Elizabeth of Hungary) at least by 1574.
