Details
HORSMONDEN CHURN LANE TQ 74 SW (north side) 1/22 August Pitts and walls attached II
House. Dated 1717 but possibly earlier core. Timber framed with red brick ground floor and tile hung first floor and with plain tiled roof. Two storeys and garret with stack cluster off centre to left with terracotta plaque dated: T A 1717 Three light metal casement and 3 light wooden casement on each floor and half casement to left in outshot. Central panelled door in gabled porch. Long catslide outshot range to left return with boarded door and wooden casements. Two half- hipped rear wings, in part in English bond brick, with end stack and second stack in single storey extension to rear left. Interior: large scantling chamfered beams exposed. Attached to rear left a length of red brick wall about 3 feet high and extending some 20 metres from the house. Projecting from end left and sweeping in front of the house for about 30 metres is a low brick wall bearing simple spurt headed rails with central single leaf iron gate, the wall terminated to right by low capped pier.
