HORSMONDEN THE HEATH TQ 7040-7140 (south side) 7/117 Heathside and Crowhursts' shop with wall attached GV II
House and shop with wall attached. C16 or earlier, altered and extended mid C19. Timber framed and exposed small panel frame with plaster infill on red brick base and crosswing with weather boarding on sandstone base, extended with painted brick and tile hung first floor. Sandstone wall. Plain tiled roofs. Hall house with crosswing plan, extended C19 to form courtyard. The earlier range faces north to the Green. Two storeys and attic with hipped roof and gablets and with stack to left and massive ridge stack to centre right. Two gabled dormers. Projecting hipped crosswing at right. Two light and 4 light wooden casements on each floor to left and single light to upper right, with 2 light wooden casements to crosswing. Boarded door to left in gabled porch. Single storey hipped and flat roofed extensions to end left. The C19 wing forms the return and roadside elevations, the latter of 2 storeys with stacks to centre left and to end right, and with large gable to centre left. Two wooden casements on first floor and paired sashes to right on ground floor, with central panelled door, and curved multi-paned shop front to left hand corner. Extending from end right about 15 metres is a sandstone wall about 3 feet high.
