THE COMMON 1. 1746 Mount Edgcumbe Cottage TQ 5739 SE 4/67 24.11.66. II GV 2. An early Cl9 house of which the north-east front is Gothicised. This is in 2 parts. The north end of the front has 2 storeys and 1 window. It is fronted with painted wood grooved in imitation of masonry and has a crow-stepped gable flanked by wooden pinnacles, also square-headed casement windows containing pointed panes and with dripstones over. The east end of the front has only 1 storey but 3 windows. It has a stuccoed front with castellated parapet and ordinary sash windows, but with dripstones over them. The south-west front is not Gothicized, except that it has one French window containing pointed heads to the top panes. This front is L-shaped and the north-west bay is splayed and projecting.
