Formerly part of Clapham Station (and still backs on to platform); now partly
a dress manufacturer's workshop, partly disused.
C19 group of buildings in Gothic style. Forebuilding a square, 2-storey, 2-window
block with pyramidal slated roof and moulded wood eaves cornice. Rear range,
of one-storey, 10 bays, has moderately low-pitched hip ended slate roof with boxed
eaves.
Main quality of building is structural polychromy. Stock brick background with
black brick plinth and dado of pale terra-cotta with darker rail. Pale terra-cotta
flush bands. Impost strings of darker terra-cotta spring from pointed relieving
arches of Tudor-arched doorways with herringbone brickwork in tympana. These
are paired, with a tiny pointed window between. Two Tudor-arched windows and
2 smaller outer pointed windows at either side. Arches are of red brick with
outer arch of black headers and key and impost blocks of terra-cotta with incised
trefoils. Another upper string of red terra-cotta and a red brick eaves corbel
table. Similar smaller south extension with brick balustraded top screen. Polychrome
chimneys with offsets tumbled in. Wrought iron angle brackets. Window sashes
have C13 style shouldered heads.
