II GV

Farmhouse. Possibly originally a c.Mid-C16 hall-house altered in C17, C18, C19 and C20. Timber-framed with C18 and C19 brick infill and recasing. Plain tile roof, hipped at West end, gabled at East end, with ridge stack and external gable stack. Lobby-entry plan. South front: 2 storeys, 4 bays. Off-centre doorway with cambered arch and C20 door. To left: a 2-light casement with cambered arch and beyond, a brick buttress. To right: a 3-light casement and then a 2-light casement, both with cambered arches. Beyond, a brick buttress. Above, from left to right, a 2-light casement, a single light casement and then a 3-light casement. All C20 casements. North elevation has C19 brick continuous outshut, and retains some wattle and daub infill in its upper framing. Interior: large central stack and upper floors probably inserted in late C17. Chamfered and flat-stopped main beams and joists visible on ground floor. Substantial visible remains of timber frame on first floor. Roof altered in C19 and C20.
