SU 65 NE SHERFIELD ON LODDON 6/28 26.4.57 Longbridge Mill
II
C17, early C19. Two storeys and attic. The main block has a mansard tiled roof, with 2 gabled dormers. The walls are of brickwork, English bond, with cambered openings to the ground-floor; a weather-boarded section on each side markes the wheel housing above the water-channel. Some early C19 metal casements. The interior has massive timbers and remains of old machinery, including the wide wheel. On the west end are north and south wings, the north of the C17 with exposed timber-framing in the upper part with brick infill and lower walling, 1/2-hipped roof; the south wing is early C19 of similar form. Small brick and tile extensions at the east end.
