2. C18, mainly early C19. On the corner with London Street, a large L-shaped block with a curved facade (with a central entrance) facing the junction. Two storeys, also 2 storeys and attic, 4.2.3.5 windows. The older elevation to Newbury Street has a tiled roof, 3 dormers with cills at eaves level, the north side being of lower height with a wide carriage arch (now filled); the painted brick walling has rubbed flat arches to the upper floor, first floor band, signs of altered fenestration, and 2 later ground-floor windows below cambered arches; dormer casements otherwise sashes. The curved section continues along London Street, with a slate roof, a projecting eaves fascia, rubbed flat arches, later cambered openings to the ground-floor and sash windows. The centre of the curve is marked by a prominent porch above several stone steps, with cornice, frieze, inner pilasters, Ionic columns, architrave, fanlight and half-glazed door. The rear part has ground-floor additions and exposes the C18 part. Above the porch is a balcony with decorative. iron railings, a trench window and at eaves level a shelf carried on carved brackets, and surmounted by a sculptured figure of a hart.
