BUCKLAND - SP 03 NE 2/3 Wisteria Cottage, Buckland Fields (formerly listed as Buckland 4.7.60 Fields) II Formerly 2 semi-detached cottages, now single house. Possibly C18, incorporating reused C12 work, altered C19, C20; mid C20 additions to rear. Squared, irregular height coursed stone; stone slate roof. Three-window, 2-storey, one room deep front; single storey rear wing in centre, later extended. Symmetrical facade: plinth, central boarded door, in recess; scalloped capital each side, but no shafts. Plain, semi-circular tympanum, bottom cut away for door head, chevron and pellet moulding round edge; chevron arch, hoodmould with carved projecting keystone. To left and right two 2-light stone, mullioned windows, plain chamfer, no hoodmould: outer original, inner C20 replacements for cottage doorways. First floor similar window each end, single-light window centre, '1622: ADDAS & FRE' carved on jamb, presumed reused stone. Parapet gables, plain ashlar gable chimneys, moulded caps. Interior, on left, exposed joists in ceiling, heavy chamfer to main beam, timber lintel to fireplace. A staircase originally by chimney in room on right. May have been originally a farmhouse, altered to 2 cottages in C19 (doorways had cambered stone voussoirs). C12 work said to have come from chapel at Laverton in same parish. (D.
