4/131 Lodge to The Greenway Hotel
GV II
Lodge. Early-mid C19 with later C19 extension. Coursed squared and dressed limestone with quoins set in relief; concrete tile roof; ashlar stack and brick stack. 'L'-shaped main body with later extension to the left gable end. Single storey. Roadside front: gable projects forwards to right with 4-light canted bay with pointed-headed lights with horizontal glazing bars and miniature battlements to the parapet; blind quatrefoil to the gable. Three C20 concrete steps up to a part-glazed C20 door with glazing bars, set within the architrave of a former window to the left of the projecting gable. Right-hand return, facing drive to hotel: projecting open-sided porch with octagonal piers and pilasters; 4-centred arches with carved spandrels on 3 sides and a deep gabled parapet: coat of arms with 3 swans' heads, a man looking up, motto at bottom. Two-light C19 casement with horizontal glazing bars within the blocking of the former doorway; blocked single-light windows with stopped hoods either side. Gable to the right of the porch with a 2-light casement with pointed-headed lights, one with the remains of leaded Gothick glazing at the top. Present access via a C20 door at the rear. Saddleback coping and finials to gable ends.
