8/327 The Old Bath House
GV II
Former bath house, now house. 1924, possibly for Percy Norley-Harder for the
Franics Gyde trust. Squared coursed limestone, stone slate roof. L-plan, one
storey and attic. A 2-light flush chamfer-mullion casement in section brought
forward, then small 2-light and deep recessed door to peaked hood on brackets.
Continuous mounted string, returned also to St Mary's Street front. Small
louvred lancet to gable. Return has 1 and 2-light openings, then door flanked
by small lights and a further door. In gable to left are two 2-light casements
under hood mould. Ashlar stack with moulded capping to right of gable.
Tibbiwell front also has a 2-light gabled dormer and a stack to left of gable.
Doors to St Mary's Street each have cast iron footscraper. This was a public
building, now domestic, and it holds an important corner visually. The details
is successful Cotswold vernacular.
