- II Folly. c1700. Rough limestone and tufa, remains of stone slate roofing. A small circular grotto built into south sloping gardens, described by Barbara Jones as follows: '.... small domed round grotto, about 10 ft across made of rock, tufa and shells with a snaggle-toothed ceiling ... very early date, and side windows made of natural holes in two big rocks' (Barbara Jones, Follies and Grottoes, 1974 2nd Edn). The grotto is reputed to stand over the position where St Kenelm's coffin was found and is especially sig- nificant for this very early date.
