Pair of gate piers. 1865. By Sir George Gilbert Scott and J. Drayton Wyatt, architects. Ashlar limestone. Piers c.600 mm square, moulded bases, offset buttresses to outer face, chamfered corners to stops similar to those on windows of Dent's Almshouses ( q.v .), cross-gabled tops with crocketted roll-mould weathered gablets having 3-foil cusping. Although now lacking gates or railings, these piers remain an essential part of the ensemble of the Almshouses.
