Details

MORETON VALENCE - SO 71 SE 3/221 Combined dovecote, cartshed, stable and cowhouse to north west of yard at Moor Farm II Large farm building combining dovecote with cart shed below, former stable to left, cowhouses to right. Dated 1806 with initials W D M on diagonally set square stone on dovecote. Brick, tile roof: Long single range of single storey and loft with nearly central 2- storey square section with dovecote with hipped roof rising to glazed lantern with pyramidal roof and ball finial. Dovecote has internal perch holes in brickwork. Large segmental headed cart archway below with double doors. Former stable to left, now a small hunting room, with plank door and 2 flanking 2-light windows, all with cambered heads. Similar openings to right, 3 windows and 2 openings between, that to right to cowhouse with wooden mangers at rear. Left hand return has flight of 14 stone steps on brick base to loft door, with small arched opening below platform and probable kennel hole below steps with stone lintel.
