Large detached farmhouse. Early C17; altered early-mid C18; c1920 and 1972 alterations. Ashlar and random rubble limestone; ashlar chimneys; stone slate roof.

Two-storey with attic and cellar; lower 2-storey part to east. South side: mixed fenestration, parapet gable in ashlar to left with two C20 restored 2-light chamfered mullioned casements to ground floor; continuous drip course above. Enlarged 2-light to upper floor, 2-light to attic, both with hoodmoulds. Single cavetto moulded attic light. Parapet gabled 2-storey porch to right, chamfered door opening having pointed stops, hoodmould over; single-light casement above. Range continuing to right has eaves raised in C18, C20 restored and altered mullioned fenestration. Three ridge-mounted chimneys with moulded or chamfered caps. Lower part to right is mid-late C17 with central parapet gable. C20 fenestration to ground and upper floors; attic 2-light with hoodmould in gable apex. Attached outbuilding has 3 rows of pigeon holes below eaves. Parapet gabled east end of mid-late C17 addition with chimney having paired shafts. Three rows of pigeon holes to east parapet gable end of outbuilding with C20 upper floor 2-light casement. North side: scattered fenestration. Single parapet gable to right with single-window fenestration below, 3-light to ground floor below continuous drip course, 2-light to upper floor and attic both with hoodmoulds, all cavetto mullioned. Three further upper floor 2-light casements with hoodmoulds, one later casement inserted at lower level. Eaves-level of roof raised to this part; gabled dormer with 2-light casement. Doorway to right has plank door and 2-light leaded light above; doorway to left now blocked. Two small cellar single-light windows and later 2-light inserted between. Two 2-light casements to lower part of range to left; gabled roof dormer with leaded casement. Interior: one room has Jacobean plaster ceiling. Early C18 dog leg staircase with 3 turned balusters per tread; ramped moulded handrail.

Upper Througham was owned by Smart family in C17, the Jacobean ceiling being somewhat similar to that at Soloman's Court (q.v.).

In 2016, dendrochronological analysis of a ceiling timber in one of the ground floor rooms returned a date of 1534.
