House, left half of pair. Early C18. Limestone ashlar front, squared and
coursed gable; concrete tile roof. A lofty narrow-frontage 2-bay house in 3
storeys and attic, 12-pane sashes in moulded architraves, eared at ground and
first floors, and with triple projecting keystones through pulvinated frieze to
moulded closed pediments; all cills set to small consoles. Right is 4-panel
fielded door incorporating a 5-pane overlight in architrave and frieze with
pediment as to the windows. Rusticated pilaster strip each side, full height,
to rich moulded eaves cornice. Two-light C20 dormer; back wall includes 2-light
chamfer-mullion casement. Gable stack left; 4 varied small openings low in this
gable. A compact, unusually rich front, possibly built for the BRYAN family,
stonemasons responsible for some of the churchyard memorials. (VCH, Glos XI.)
