PAINSWICK JACK'S GREEN, Sheepscombe SO 81 SE (north side)

2/139 Pyll House (formerly 25.4.77 listed as Pill House Farm- house) - II Shown on OS map as Pull House. Farmhouse, now house. Dated TJM 1701 on keystone to doorway. Good coursed and squared limestone, concrete stone slate. Compact symmetrical building with one-storey wing projecting forward at right end. Two storeys and attic, 3 windows; ground floor has a 4-light with king mullion and a 2-light, first floor a 3-light and 2-light flanking an oval bulls-eye. Central C20 door in a richly modelled bolection mould surround to deep pulvinated frieze and large keystone, all under a stopped hood mould. Left gable has 2 round bulls-eyes at attic level and at first floor; back, which is partly built into slope, has two 2-light casements and two small single lights at ground floor, and three 2-light casements to first floor. Windows are mainly recessed ovolo-mould with stopped hoods. Small square stack left end. Interior not inspected, but includes heavy chamfered spine beam.
