Piers, gates, railings and dwarf wall at boundary to churchyard to Church of St John the Evangelist

Piers, gates, railings and boundary wall. Mid C19. Cast iron and limestone. Immediately south of south porch pair of gates with fleur-de-lys heads to rails set to limestone piers c600 m square with heavy moulded caps, right pier partly built in to adjacent wall, simple overthrow with lamp with acrotoria. Running as boundary to St John's Road northwards from this point 27 panels of railing c760 mm high above dwarf wall of varying height; each panel contains 27 slender uprights with flattened spear termination, main posts stayed by iron supports. Dwarf wall, acting as retaining wall for most of its length, in squared limestone rubble with weathered sandstone capping.
The railings are for the most part in good condition at time of survey, especially since they are unusually delicate in design.
